AS Roma Women’s Next Fixture: Clash with Fiorentina in Title Race Showdown

AS Roma Women are gearing up for their final showdown before the championship playoff stage. Today, Roma will face Fiorentina away from home at 3 PM (live on Dazn) with the aim of securing a lead of at least +8 points over Juventus by the end of the regular season, replicating last year’s feat when the Scudetto was adorned with yellow and red. The Roman side has suffered only one defeat in the league and currently tops the table with 48 points, followed by Juventus (40), while Fiorentina holds the third spot (39). These three teams are the main contenders, and coach Spugna has cautioned his players ahead of the match at Viola Park, stating, “The group is certainly in a better shape than a few weeks ago – he told the club’s official channels – now we have this last effort to make, and it won’t be easy. Fiorentina is doing very well, they have balance and high-level players, especially upfront.”

Nevertheless, the Giallorossi coach guarantees that there will be an exciting spectacle on the field, just as it was in the first leg at Tre Fontane when the home team emerged victorious with a 2-1 scoreline. Following today’s fixture, the league will pause for a month, with international friendly matches and then the Coppa Italia semi-finals filling the gap. Serie A action will resume on the weekend of March 16-17, with the top 5 teams advancing to the “scudetto playoff,” while the remaining 5 will head to the “relegation playoff.” Both groups will compete in a round-robin format, retaining their points from the initial phase. After 10 matchdays (with each team having 2 rest rounds), the top-ranked team will clinch the Serie A title, securing a spot in the Champions League alongside the second and third-placed teams. The bottom-ranked team will be relegated to Serie B, while the penultimate team will face a playoff against the second-placed team in Serie B for survival in the top flight. Today’s result for Roma is inconsequential in terms of the standings, but arriving with a comfortable lead over the second-placed team in the scudetto playoff would certainly boost the confidence of Giacinti and her teammates.
