Mats Hummels eagerly awaits his debut with the jersey of Roma and continues to emphasize it with a flurry of social media posts. The German centre-back has in fact posted on his Instagram profile a picture of himself holding the Champions League trophy that is awarded to all players included in the ideal team of the past season: “More Champions League Team of the Season trophies than minutes played so far“. This is how Hummels’ message begins as he tries to downplay the situation to quell the controversy over his non-use: “I always take it with humour, so please interpret it as such”. Then, the closing quip: “He arrived late but still had to travel from Dortmund to Rome”. The German’s debut is unlikely to come this Sunday against Inter, but as he himself admitted a few days ago, he will probably be present next Thursday against Dinamo Kiev.
