His words: “Now is the right time for me to express myself at my best, the better things are yet to come.”
Luca Mazzitelli, a player for Como, has given an interview to Calciomercato.com reporters. These are his words regarding his adventure in Roma and on Daniele De Rossi:
In May 2014, at 18 years old, he makes his Serie A debut with Garcia’s Roma, at Marassi against Genoa. “I had been training with the first team for six months, the debut was in the air. From that day I vividly remember the moments at the hotel before heading to the stadium; I knew I was going to play and I had an incredible stomachache. What tension. As I warmed up on the sidelines, I was filled with excitement, then I took the place of my friend Federico Ricci.”
Was that your only game played with Roma, do you have any regrets? “None, it’s just right. Roma is a major team, boasting players who have had a more significant career than mine. I’ve had my journey: I made it to Serie A early on, had to drop down to Serie B because I wasn’t finding consistency and perhaps made my comeback a little later than I could have. “But this is okay, this kind of journey has also helped me grow. Now the right time has arrived for me to express myself to the fullest, the best things will come in the future.”
Has De Rossi always been your role model? What memories do you have with him at Trigoria? “When I was in the youth team, I would walk down the avenue at Trigoria, passing in front of the first team’s fields. I saw those players as mythical and unreachable figures. Then I began training with the first team, but he treated me just like any of them, despite the fact that I was a young guy from the Primavera. This speaks volumes about his greatness as a person. Having walked the same path, he knew exactly what we might need.
