Here are the words of the midfielder and captain of Roma just before the challenge against Como.
Lorenzo Pellegrini spoke to the microphones of Sky Sport before the clash against Como. These are the words of the number 7 of Roma:
PELLEGRINI TO SKY
Everything has changed from Como to Como. “What’s been the secret to this consistency?” “Well, after our match with Como, we admitted to ourselves that it wasn’t our finest performance. I believe what eventually led us to this place of peace is the profound effort and the requirements set by our coach. Working on every minor aspect where we had faltered before, just as it happened earlier, and the results are evident.” What has Ranieri given you and what has he given to the team? “I believe he has given so much to everyone. It’s not my place to articulate it, because the story of the manager and what he’s doing and will do speaks volumes for him. “She has given us this serenity and freedom, and we have seized it straight away by doing what she asks us to do and adding our qualities to it,” they report.
What are Como’s qualities?
“We’ve observed Como, I think they’re delivering great matches especially during this period, they want to be aggressive and play the ball because they know how to do that.” At the same time, they want to be vertical. This will be an extremely demanding match and it will require the best of Roma today.”
PELLEGRINI ON DAZN
A key player in Europe but on the bench in the league. “Beyond that, the coach makes us all feel important. When heading to the bench, it is not a punishment. In the coach’s mind, it was perhaps better this way, or maybe upon being subbed in, you can outshine with a stellar performance. The game of strategizing, of calculating moves, is on, and the underlying belief is that a fresh player off the bench may just have the punch required to turn the tide. “We are a healthy group that wants what’s best for Roma.”
How do you feel now? A teammate that took you by surprise? “The team is calm. We have been through a phase where things weren’t going well. With Ranieri, everything was simpler and calm. Everything was managed in a more carefree manner. Things are going well now, but we need to do much more. Today will be challenging, but we aim to claim victory against a formidable team like Como. If I have to name one amongst my peers, I would mention Mati Soulé. I extremely admire him and have immense faith in him. “As a Roma fan, I’m thrilled to see him don our jersey,”
