The defender: “His confidence in what he does struck me. I am utterly assured that he will do well”.

Claudio Ranieri has left an impressive legacy in many teams. Naturally, among these is Cagliari, where Paulo Azzi plays. The defender has given an interview to Nuova Sardegna and also addressed the return of the coach to the Roma’s bench. Here are his words.

What makes Davide Nicola similar to Claudio Ranieri?

“From both, I have learned the importance of team-building and respect, values important to both. Our habits are the same, we have breakfast and lunch together.” “A way to talk, to discuss, to cement the relationship among us.”

Claudio Ranieri, on the other hand, has returned to coaching. What does he think?

Knowing his passion for football, at 73 years old, he still has a crazy desire. When I heard that he might go to Roma, it gave me joy. “He was born in the capital, his affection for those colors is well-known. I am very confident that he will do a wonderful job.” What was it like being trained by Ranieri and what did you learn?

“What struck me was his confidence in what he does. He’s a man who meticulously attends to every detail, from the technicalities to psychological aspects. I arrived here alongside him in January 2022. Cagliari was struggling, and promotion seemed a distant dream. But from day one, he was adamant: ‘We will work hard, and you will see that, in the end, we will achieve something significant.’ “It has lifted us up and fueled our enthusiasm. It has been successful and the goal has been achieved.”
