The fan, following an accident, lost all his memories from 1980 to 2019. The former yellow-red striker welcomed him to Trigoria to help him relive them.
The incredible story of Luciano D’Adamo, the “forgetful” fan, has quickly made its rounds throughout Italy and beyond. After an accident in 2019, indeed, Luciano woke up in the hospital, albeit under the belief that it was March 20, 1980. Among the countless lost memories, from his marriage to his wife to the births of his children and grandchildren, there are also those connected to his beloved Rome. Upon learning his story, the club extended an invitation to him to visit Trigoria and relive all those incomparable moments he unfortunately no longer remembers, all under the exceptional guidance of the remarkable Ruggiero Rizzitelli. “I am Luciano D’Adamo.”
On February 6, 2019, I was involved in a road accident, and when I awoke in the hospital, it was March 20, 1980. I had traveled back in time by 39 years and more. “In these 39 years, everything has been dark, the only things I recall are brief flashes, including various moments of life but only with the help of my wife, who at that time was my girlfriend”. These are the initial words from D’Adamo who is later welcomed into the sports center by the former yellow-red forward: “You played for Roma between 1988 and 1994? Then I can’t remember”. The response from Rizzitelli was swift: “They told me. Now we remember the history of Roma, because before you remember it until March 20, 1980.

Rizzitelli’s response was immediate: “They told me so. Now we are recalling the history of Roma because before, you would remember it until the 20th of March, 1980. “The data is fundamental,” Luciano continued, recounting his latest memories associated with Roma: “I am a fan, but my memories stop in 1980.” It was the first year with engineer Dino Viola. I remember he had bought many players: he had brought back Bruno Conti from Genoa, Turone and coach Nils Liedholm, whom he had taken from Milan. Viola was striving to build a powerful team, I distinctly remember this. Until March 20, the day of my last memory, the team was doing pretty well. “He was between fifth and sixth place, but then I can’t remember how that season ended,” Rizzitelli had later taken Luciano through several photographs that are part of the giallorossa history, particularly towards one that depicts De Rossi and Totti on field, “Is this the former coach?” Luciano asked. “Yes, De Rossi,” immediately responds Rizzitelli, who then continues recounting about the former number 10: “And then there’s Totti. Have they told you who Francesco Totti is? All you need to do is look at the 10, only he has it.” “He is a unique player in the history of Roma,” came the declaration. Immediately, Luciano responded, “I was not aware of that.” The story then continues with the tale of the two championships won: “When they told me about the 1982/83 League title, I was stunned. We also won in the 2000/01 season.

The narrative further unfolds with the thrilling account of the two formidable championship victories: “When news of the 1982/83 League title reached me, astonishment gripped me. Added to our past glory was the triumph of the 2000/01 season. We had won one several years prior, but I hadn’t experienced it. I was disappointed to have missed these as well. “I was unable to truly live through the various moments of these victories”, shares Luciano. He concludes by reminiscing about the Conference League win in 2021 and the technological changes that have taken place from 1980 to 2019.
