The yellow-and-red team’s coach had lashed out against referee Stieler, urging his players not to greet him at the end of the match, then in the post-match, the diatribe against Rosetti: a total of 31,000 euros.

The Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body of UEFA has issued the decisions and penalties that relate to the latest knockout round of the various European competitions. In this regard, the yellow-and-red club has also been fined in relation to the behavior of its fans and members. And in this case, the hefty fine for Claudio Ranieri stands out, in the now infamous outburst against referee Stieler in the first leg of the playoffs at Porto. The coach – who had instructed his players not to greet the referee and then vented his frustration in the post-match against Rosetti – has been fined 20,000 euros for “breaching basic rules of decent behaviour.” To these are added a steep penalty of 11,000 euros for “improper team conduct”, likely due to the team’s failure to salute the referee. Further, Roma has to pay another 4,500 euros for throwing objects at the Do Dragao, plus an additional 8,000 euros for damages caused to the stadium and/or its facilities by its own fans. Total: 43,500 Euros.
