In the 14 hectares earmarked for the construction of the new yellow-red facility, there is a lush and well-maintained green area.

After the impressive renderings of the facility and the lawsuits filed by the old residents of the cleared areas, another stumbling block in the Friedkin stadium project has emerged: a forest. Yes, because in the 14 hectares assigned for the construction of the new yellow-red facility, there is a lush and well-kept forest daily maintained by some residents. According to the council led by Mayor Gualtieri, there are no natural assets to preserve. However, some documents approved in 2012 by the Municipality of Rome – which proposed the construction of a “Pietralata Park” – reveal the existence of a “forest area” in the territory. This issue came up last April after the alerts from the committee “Yes to the park, yes to the hospital, no to the stadium”, and Sabina Alfonsi (Environmental Councilor) had already responded with the words: “according to our agronomists, it’s not a forest.” But in recent days, as evidenced by numerous videos, the issue has resurfaced, and even in the Rome technicians’ census, they recorded approximately 800 trees and shrubs.
