Published just moments ago is the statement from the yellow-red club: at the end of the season, he will be the consultant for the Ownership in all the sporting matters of the club.
After days of rumors and phone calls, the London interview, and the landing at Fiumicino amidst the celebrating crowd, the Friedkins have officially made their choice: Claudio Ranieri will be the new manager of Roma. Following De Rossi and Juric, he will be the third coach to take to the yellow-red bench in just two months. The fourth in the calendar year 2024. Just seconds ago, the official confirmation of the agreement arrived via a statement from the company. Below are the words from the club:
“AS Roma is pleased to announce that Claudio Ranieri is the new Technical Director of the First Team.
At the end of the season, he will take on a senior managerial role: he will be a consultant to the Owners for all the club’s sports matters. The search for a new coach will continue in the upcoming months, and Claudio will also have a strong voice in this decision.
Born in Rome, and a lifelong Roma fan, after having donned the yellow and red jersey as a player in the 1973-74 season, as well as having two stints as a head coach (from 2009 to 2011, and again in 2019), he is a symbol of the Club’s values. He is also one of the most respected Roman sports figures worldwide. Ranieri brings a colossal wealth of knowledge and experience acquired in Serie A, the Premier League, La Liga, and Ligue 1, leading Europe’s top clubs and winning historic titles, such as the one he clinched with Leicester in 2016.
The Club extends its best wishes to the coach for this new chapter of his thrilling career, confident that he will provide added value to the team and to AS Roma as a whole. “Go Roma and welcome home, Coach!”
