“Deserve to be treated like everyone else. Since that final, it’s becoming difficult,” stated the former Roma coach.

José Mourinho has once again opened up about the Europa League final loss in Budapest against Sevilla, during an interview with Sky Sport. The former coach of Roma has commented on his relationship with European referees following his fury directed at UEFA after the end of the 2023 finals. Here are his words.

On Refereeing Episodes

“The feeling is that I’m in trouble, I lost a final in a way that I still can’t accept, and I feel it ever since. In this season, we were kicked out of the Champions League, in the preliminary round by Lille with an injury time penalty that only VAR spotted. The expulsion during the Manchester United match? I was merely venting my emotions, screaming just as everyone else on the bench and in the stadium, without a hint of insult. And I receive a red card. “I know it’s a battle I’ll never win.”

“Do you believe you deserve different treatment?”

“Do I deserve better treatment? No, I deserve to be treated like everyone else. The difficulty stemming from that final in Budapest is becoming significant.

A future in the Premier League?

“I like it, I have coached there in four different periods. “And my family lives in London, which is home. One day, I’d love to return, but for the next two years, no one will take me away from Fenerbahce.” Is it about the National team?

“Not today, I still have too much energy to play just one game a month. But a World Cup, a European Championship in the future… why not?
