They’ve inked some of the most memorable pages in Roma’s youth sector, remembered not solely for their triumphs, with two consecutive Scudetti victories, and numerous finals played, the most recent of which was lost in June against Sassuolo. But also their strength as a group that has exceeded every expectation. However, for many of these young stars, their journey with the red and yellow jersey seems to have reached its terminus. The match against Cagliari had already provided pretty clear indications in this regard, and now the lack of call-ups for the clash against Cremonese seems to definitively confirm the change in course. According to what was reported by the Regional Gazette, the missed call-ups of Mattia Almaviva and William Feola, both of whom remained on the bench for the entirety of the match, has sparked much debate. The Class of 2006 is the young man who, on the day of Francesco Totti’s farewell, was handed the captain’s armband at the conclusion of the goodbye speech of Roma’s legendary number 10. Recently, due to numerical necessity, he has participated in the summer retreat with the first team, led by Daniele De Rossi. However, it now seems that Almaviva no longer fits in the plans for the Giallorossi youth sector, leaving the future in suspense for a young man who had embodied hope since that fateful day of May 28, 2017.
