Roma transfer market, Smalling renewed in standby: Pinto does not raise and Inter can take advantage

Chris Smalling has not yet given an answer on the renewal. In Trigoria the Nicolò Zaniolo case is taking up most of the time, but Tiago Pinto can not neglect the one related to the English defender who at the moment did not accept Roma’s proposal. It is 2.5 million for the next two years for a total of 5, less than the current 3.5 per season. In addition, the lawyer could have used a clause exercisable exclusively by him that provides for the renewal for another year by receiving the current salary. Clause valid only to exceed 50% of the games played in the current season. But he won’t exercise his right. Why? He is having an extraordinary season and Inter want to convince him to divorce Roma ahead of next summer.

Smalling between Inter renewal and offer
The Nerazzurri would take him off the hook and offer him a deal that the Giallorossi can’t afford to tie because of the financial fair play. Here, then, the Englishman will be at a crossroads: accept the money of Inter should the offer materialize or remain at Roma at lower figures. The risk is that on the horizon we can prefigure another Mkhitaryan case, which out of the blue in June last year chose to turn its back on Pinto and move to Milan. The general manager also has no intention of increasing the offer or participating in auctions with the Nerazzurri. To complicate matters the need for Inter to replace Skriniar now a step away from PSG and who were offered 6 million per season for renewal. The Slovakian refused and that money could be used to convince Smalling.
