The Giallorossi are among the teams with the highest squad cost in Italy, only surpassed by Juventus and the two teams from Milan.
The season for the illustrious Roma is not shaping up in the best way despite a bustling transfer market activity exceeding 100 million and the lofty expectations surrounding the team. The primary aim of the season still remains clinching the Champions League in light of the investments made both in terms of player transfers and in the cost of the squad. According to data supplied by Soccer and Finances, the team in yellow and red currently has the fourth highest gross wage bill in the entire Serie A (95.7 million). Ahead are only Milan (108.4), Juventus (117.6) and Inter (141.7). Expanding the ranking to all European championships, Roma is found to be in 18th place for gross payroll (with only Fenerbahçe and Crystal Palace trailing behind). The Giallorossi, nonetheless, have managed to alleviate the gross cost of the squad compared to past years, managing to stay below the threshold of 100 million.
